Monday Babble.

Monday, 26 September 2016

After planning to do my monthly 'Sunday sit-down' post yesterday as a kind of round up and attempt to get back into blogging, I failed miserably. Instead I made brownies and spent the afternoon with my dad, which was so lovely and chilled and really what i've needed after a couple of weeks of feeling a bit shit.

If you've been following me on twitter recently, you'll have probably seen me talking about my mental health. I've never really struggled throughout my life with my mental health, but lately I've had so much going on that everything kind of got on top of me this past few weeks and i've been really struggling. I've felt like i've had someone sat on my chest, making it hard to breath and I almost work myself up until I feel like i'm going to have a panic attack. So this week I took the first step and booked myself in for a doctors appointment, just to talk to someone and figure out whats going on. This is probably the main reason for my lack of blogging recently, I just never felt like i had the time to blog when I have so much other stuff to do. I miss blogging hugely though and am constantly writing down blog post ideas in my notebook ready for my big return! But I do like doing these little posts to keep you in the loop and to know that I am still here, waiting to get back into it soon!

One of the main things I wanted to write a post about was my wedding, I've been trying to keep you guys updated with wedding posts but this past 2 months have whizzed by and I just haven't had the time to write something. So I'm planning on hopefully getting one of those out this week and letting you in on all the things going down!

As for everything else, I'm still chugging away behind the scenes for my Etsy shop, working on planning a Sheffield blogger event with The City Girls, and popping along to the odd blogging event when I have the time to venture out in the evenings. Lots of exciting things still going on which I'll be telling you about soon when I get a chance to write them up!

Then lastly, I'm pretty darn excited about the start of autumn. I know it's so cliche to be all about the autumn leaves and cold weather and hot chocolate but I honestly love autumn so much and I'm already excited about the dreaded 'c' word. Yep. I'm excited about CHRISTMAS..

So expect to see plenty of autumn themed posts coming your way soon! As I know I wont be able to control my excitement. I've already got the fairy lights up around my fireplace in the living room to make the evenings all cosy!

I hope to be seeing you much more frequently around here soon.

Sunday Sitdown #10

Sunday, 24 July 2016
It's Sunday and I'm awake writing this at 8am, damn the stupid hot weather but i've got so much to talk about that I just really wanted to get writing a post!

The first thing I want to talk about is my lovely friend Holly's baby shower, I can't believe how fast the last 8 months have flown by and I can't wait to meet the baby! The baby shower was absolutely wonderful, all of the food was incredible and beautiful, I mean just look at these biscuits and the cakes!! I know who I'll be getting to plan my baby shower when I eventually pop out some kids, hint hint Holly. It was just such a lovely afternoon playing games, chatting to people, eating some food and the weather was perfect for it too, I even got a little sun burnt, silly me!

Whilst I was at the baby shower Nick was off on his stag do in Leeds, which is a little surreal, I don't think it's quite sunk in yet that we're getting married despite talking about it so much, that it was very odd to think he was off on his stag do. I'm dreading what state he'll come back in this afternoon, I think we might be having an afternoon of laying on the sofa watching films and eating pizza so he can recover which is totally fine by me, sounds like the perfect Sunday afternoon chill.

Speaking of weddings, this month was also the month that I finally went out with my friend Gemma to buy my wedding dress materials and start putting the dress together. I am SO excited about this, I was really struggling to visualise what I wanted in my head and finally seeing the materials and the shape coming together makes me so excited, I can't wait to try it on and walk around all floaty! I'll be keeping you up to date on wedding things very soon so you won't have to wait long now I promise!

Then over on my blog I recently did a post about starting an art journal and the response I've had from this post has been overwhelming, thank you so much for all of the nice feedback! I've had so many people ask me to start making prints, so I think over the next couple of weeks I'll be putting together a selection to go up in an etsy store to share with you all and see how things go! I've just really enjoyed drawing and painting again so it's just so wonderful that everyone else likes my work too! Also let me know which one you prefer, the flamingo or the cacti in the comments!

I also had a meeting with all the other TheCityGirls ladies about the event we are planning for later in the year which was very exciting! I'm sure we'll have things to share with you all soon but the meeting went really well and I can't wait to have some things set in stone so we can share some sneak peaks! I think you are going to love it!

So as you can see the last couple of weeks have been quite busy, so much going on in real life and on the blog but it's all so exciting. I'm really excited about doing an etsy shop, it's a new challenge that I'm ready and raring to take on! I will let you all know when I open it!

Until then, I'm going to go scrape together some breakfast from whatever is hanging around in the fridge, make a cup of tea and watch some TV. I hope you enjoy your Sunday and see you on Tuesday!

Sunday Sitdown #9

Sunday, 26 June 2016
I almost forgot to do a Sunday sit-down post this month because time truly has whizzed on by. I know I say this is every Sunday sit down post but the past month seems to have gone by really quickly even though I haven't seem to have done anything interesting, ha!

As always I'm going to talk about a few things that have been going on with my blog and in real life, so lets grab a cup of tea and have a catch up!

Blog life.

After listening to a few blogging themed podcasts I've found recently, I've been really inspired and enthusiastic about writing. I've been jotting down all sorts of topics I want to cover here, most of which are very real and down to earth because I feel like I want to spend more time connecting with my viewers and tackling issues I'm passionate about in life. I really enjoy reading posts about real life issues and connecting a little more with another person and if I can do that for someone else, I'd be extremely happy and proud of my blog.

Another exciting front on the blog is that I've joined The City Girls team. The City Girls is run by my friend Holly over on Tea&Blush and she kindly asked me, Aimee and Becki to join the team to bring the events back to life later this year. We're all so very excited to join the team and get cogs turning behind the scenes, so please hang tight for some exciting things later in the year !

Personal life.

At the start of this month I took some big steps with my driving and finally went out on my own without anyone else in the car for the first time ever. I've been slowly getting back into driving and building up my confidence since Christmas and being able to finally go out of my own has felt really really great. The last thing I need to tackle is learning to drive on the motorway then I'll be free as a bird to tackle the roads of the world.

We also both enjoyed 10 days on holiday with Nicks family in Cyprus. This was a much needed holiday and the fact it was with family made it super relaxed with no pressure to go out every night, this meant I spent a lot of time chilling with Nick by the pool, reading books and spending some much needed time away from social media. I wrote two photo diary type posts about Cyprus which you can find Part 1 and Part 2 here. It really makes me want to travel more and explore the world, which I do plan on doing after we've got the big holiday of next year over, our honeymoon!

Then finally, we have more progress on the wedding front in May, which is always very exciting, but I'll be writing a post about that very soon. So keep your eyes peeled for that! I can't quite believe it's only 5 months away now, it seems to be equally flying by and dragging!

I'm off to drink lots of fruit tea in front of the telly and spend the day relaxing, ahhh sundays.

Sunday, 13 March 2016
Once again, its time for a little Sunday Sitdown and have a little catch up. Is it me or has the past 3 months just absolutely flown by? I can't believe we're 2 weeks away from April...seesh.
The past months I've been super busy on both the blogging and personal front. So this month I'll certainly be splitting this post into two!

Sunday Sit Down #5

Sunday, 7 February 2016
It's been almost a month since the last update, time just runs away with you sometimes. The run up to Christmas felt like an eternity yet January has well and truly gone in the blink of an eye. It's the first week into February already and we've got so much going on, I can see this month flying by too!

The main things I'd like to talk about with you today is a little update on the realistic News years resolutions I set myself as I've already done two of them, yep, look at me go!

The first one I want to talk to you about is saving money and spending bans. I went on a spending ban as an experiment for January to see how I got on with not buying anything, it turns out, it was pretty easy for me, which shocked me. I gave up buying rubbish that I saw in a shop that caught my eye or splurging on the dreaded Internet and making impulse purchases and I managed to nip the urges in the bud. What I did find though is that I spent my money on better things, like holidays, trips, plans and more experiences rather than physically things, which I am really really happy about. We've already booked a trip to visit Nick's mum in Cyprus for 2 weeks in May, I've paid for and booked everything for my friends Hen do next weekend and just generally had more fun doing things rather than owning  things. This is something I am really going to try and take with me for the next month and beyond, Buzz Lightyear style. It's already a week into Feb and I haven't felt the need to buy anything, which is a really good sign.

This brings me onto the next big, huge, massive exciting moment that is picking our wedding venues, saving the date and all those exciting beginning things. We officially pay the deposits on everything on Tuesday, so although it isn't official yet, it kind of already is. We had already planned to get married in 2017 however  due to our amazing parents, we can now afford to do it this year, that's right, I'm becoming a wifey in 2016. This is pretty mind blowing and exciting and nerve wracking all at the same time, but the only reason we were putting it off until next year was down to cash flow, which has been reduced greatly by our amazing families, so why the hell shouldn't we do it this year?! As thing are already been put into motion, I will be writing about this more in another post in the next week, so I can share the journey more with you and the things you learn when planning a wedding. It's such an exciting time and I can't wait to share that with you! From the tears, the worries, the panics, the stress, the excitement, the fun stuff, the dress!! and everything else that comes with planning a wedding.

The last thing I want to talk to you all about is my blog, this little old slice of Internet pie. I decided this year I was going to take a step back from forced posted that I felt I needed to post to be consistent and write more about things I care about, what interests me and really try not to be as materialistic in life (a personal choice). I have to say I have found writing so much easier since deciding to do this and have found it's much easier to think of ideas and plans when it's things I care about and I'm thrilled to say you guys seem to be enjoying it too! So I'm glad to say this will be the direction my blog will be taking in the near future and I hope you'll stick along for the ride with me!

If you'd like to hear more about my wedding plans, my most used make up brushes and something valentines themed check back next week!

Well, I could do with a cup of tea now, who's putting the kettle on, me or you?

Sunday Sit Down #4

Sunday, 10 January 2016
It has been about a week since I set myself my some blogging and life goals and I already have updates..isn't that exciting? So I'm pretty much just going to delve right it.

So firstly, drum roll please... we have chosen the venues for our wedding. Yep, we totally went straight in with that goal and sorted it. I'm going to do more posts on these as things come closer to the actual wedding planning phase. I've already contacted both of the venues and they are free for the date that we want (give or take a week) and it's super duper exciting. For those that are interested we are aiming for around the 10th of October 2017, yes its miles away but hey weddings aint cheap, so this gives us plenty of time to save money and really make it special. The last thing you want to do with your wedding is rush it or go cheap, because it's the one time you really get to make it your own, plus I don't want to regret not doing it another way after. I can't wait to go visit them when the weather clears up slightly!
So, there you go ladies and gents, I'm crazy excited and now have to wait 22 months....sigh.

Then as of this week we have also booked our first holiday of 2016 out to see Nicks mum in Cyprus in May, which is crazy exciting. By the time we fly out there it will have been 7 months since we saw the fam, so we are both super excited to get out there and soak up some sun, go on some adventures and spend time chilling with the family. I'm also excited at the prospect of having my engagement resized so it fits my finger properly, as some of you may know we got engaged in Cyprus last April and decided to buy our engagement ring out there too. The ring we bought was too big and the jeweller we bought from assured us it was totally resizeable but after talking to a few places they couldn't do it because it turned out to be 5 sizes too big. We contacted the lady we bought it from and she said she was happy to re-size it for us next time we are in Cyprus..so here's hoping we can get it done even a couple of sizes smaller so it's at least a little tighter, cross you fingers for me!

Then lastly, saving money. I've been really trying to resist all urges when buying things week which has been going really well. Nick and I had a chat this week and have decided to take a big step and move all of our earnings into a joint bank account as a step to save much more money. I'll let you know how this works out but we are planning on putting this in action at the beginning of February, what better time to save more money when you have a wedding to get planning?

I also went out for lunch with the lovely Sheffield bloggers lot as we've not been together since before Christmas. It was great seeing everyone and eating cake at the Eten Cafe, I work right next to this place and have never been in before so I might pop in more often now as I enjoyed it. They also do some really cool local artwork so I might make a purchase at some point!

The first week back at work went surprising quickly so that can only mean next week is going to drag like hell so good luck to everyone else out there!

Lets catch up soon?

Sunday Sit Down #3.

It's that time again to have a catch up and let you know what's been going on with me!
