My Wedding Day Details.

Sunday, 11 December 2016
On your wedding day, what they say really is true, it goes so quickly that everything is kind of a blur. Saying that sometimes it's the little things that really make the day special, they're little reminders of moments throughout the day. I wanted to share a few of my wedding day details that I loved about my day and what made it special for me. Those things that everyone else probably didn't notice but I absolutely loved.

Before I start I'd like to mention that the photography in this post is by my amazing wedding photographers Pour Toujours Photography. I could never have taken such amazing photos myself, so huge shout out to them!

A Few Little Blog Updates

Sunday, 4 December 2016
Over the past month I've really got my blogging mojo back and I couldn't be happier about it. I genuinely really missed blogging during the wedding planning, I found it quite hard to find time to mentally relax enough to get the creative juices flowing. So, now that I have all my spare time freed up again I've thrown myself well and truly back into writing and planning! This also means I've finally done a few updates to my blog, so if you want to find out what happening around here, read on!
Sweet Allure A Few Little Blog Updates

Let's Talk...

Sunday, 27 November 2016
This is going to be different from my usual posts, although I like to write some personal things on my blog I never quite reveal the nitty gritty real stuff very often. But, like most people, sometimes writing about things feels therapeutic and really helps get some things off my chest. So as much as things are generally quite positive around here, I'd like to just have a chat about what's going on in my life right now.

The Contraceptive Implant: My Experience.

Thursday, 10 November 2016
I've been on the pill for as long as I can remember. I went on it at an early age because my periods were so horrendously heavy and painful that the doctor recommended going on it to help. I suffered really badly with it, I remember going along with my mum to do the weekly food shopping and having to ring my dad to come pick me up because I was doubled over in so much period pain that I could hardly walk. I'd be in so much pain I'd feel intensely sick and tired and I'm my mood swings were pretty intense, but that could be all those teenage hormones!

As I headed further into my teens, I developed the normal teenager skin problems and the pill always helped with my spots, the pill was something I really did appreciate growing up because it worked so many wonders for me! Of course as I became sexually active it helped with that too. Taking a pill every single day didn't seem to bother me, I'd take it every morning before school/college/work and it never was a problem. I'm not quite sure when it was but at some point during my early twenties I just got really slack with taking my pill. When I was at university my timetable and schedule was so all over the place, especially with working at weekends too. A proper routine went out the window and so taking the pill at a set time everyday never really happened.

About 2 years ago I decided to stop taking the pill all together. This was a decision I didn't take lightly, firstly, I didn't want to get pregnant and secondly, it's quite inconvenient isn't it and condom are expensive. But I decided I wanted to give my body some time off from pumping it with hormones and see how I got on au natural.

It turns out being off the pill sucks. All those problems I had in my teens re-suffered pretty quickly. My periods were regular, but began getting really heavy and painful again, my mood swings were awful, I was covered in spots and I just generally felt awful. In between my periods I'd forget how bad they were but come the end of the month I was back feeling sick and grumpy like never before.

So, I decided to take a trip to the doctors and discuss the options. I'd heard good things about the contraceptive implant but for some reason it always felt like a big deal getting something put in my arm and I toyed with the idea for quite awhile. But after weighing up the different option I decided I needed something effective for birth control that I didn't have to worry about and 3 years is a long time to not worry about getting pregnant, so it felt like the best option for me.

I made an appointment to talk to my doctor and told her that I was 100% ready and before I knew it I was booked in for an appointment the next day. They went over the side effects thoroughly with me, making sure I wasn't just having the implant because I'd heard that I wouldn't have periods anymore, which did sound like a pro point for me but it was really about having a contraceptive that I didn't have to worry about missing one morning because I was busy. So I gave everything the thumbs up and was seen the next day.

The procedure was quite quick. They inject your arm to numb it, if I said this didn't hurt I'd be lying, needles of course almost always hurt in some way, it wasn't awful but it was okay. I didn't watch as she inserted the implant but she made me feel it once it was in place so that I could tell where it was, what it felt like and I can only assume to prove she had actually done it. Then before I knew it I was all bandaged up, leaflet in hand and sent on my way. Personally, my arm swelled up quite a lot and took a few days to calm down and become less painful. I had quite a big bruise but after it healed the incision scar is almost invisible and I barely even notice it's there. If I have a proper feel around I can find it and feel it but I have no real need to do that, except when I want to check it's still there occasionally ha ha!

As for my periods, I have to say they've been all over the place. Some months I have a full period, which for me is usually 4-5 days of bleeding. I've had a lot of spotting bleeding, sometimes it's just once on a day, sometimes it's a few days at a time but I certainly still have my monthly visitor. I'm sad to say I'm not one of those lucky people that haven't had a period since but I've also only had my implant for about 6 months and it can take quite awhile for it to settle. I haven't noticed any particular side effects, my mood swings were a little crazy to begin with but I'd also been off the pill for about a year before this, so having the extra hormones flying around was always going to be different at first.

My whole experience so far has been really positive, I'm really happy I've had the implant, I don't have to worry about getting pregnant for at least 3 years, which is helping with all the post-wedding baby questions! The only thing I'm not looking forward to it when it needs to be removed, although that's a long way away, I can imagine it's not as pleasant as having it put it! I think currently I'd be happy to have another put it after this one, I haven't had any negative reasons to not go ahead with it all again!

I know this post has been super long and rambley, but I hope in some way this post has helped some of you understand the contraceptive implant a bit more! If you have any questions or want to share your experience please let me know in the comments, I'd love to hear from you!

We're Married!!!

Thursday, 27 October 2016
As I'm sure some of you know, last weekend Nick and I finally tied the knot. We're officially husband and wife, yes that does feel weird to say and no, I don't think I'll get used to it anytime soon!

Everything they say about your wedding day going super fast is true, I can't believe it's been almost a week already, where the hell does time go? It's probably because ever since the morning after, flu hit me like a brick in the face and it's been a-bit of a daze since.

The ceremony venue was so lovely, all the flowers were hanging down and making this gorgeous little archway that framed us perfectly. All the windows let in so much light and it was all so pretty, I can't wait to see the photos!

Then the reception at The Chimney House in Sheffield was perfect, we trusted them completely with decorating the place and I honestly couldn't have imagined anything more perfect. I wouldn't have changed a thing. The food was incredible, we had pulled pork pie with mash and peas and it was probably one of the tastiest things I've ever eaten. Everything was candle lit and it made it so romantic and pretty. Doesn't it just look so dreamy?

We've been away for a couple of days to just relax and enjoy each others company until returning back to 'normal' life and it was so so lovely to spend some time alone. We rented a gorgeous little cottage near Bakewell so we went for nice pub lunches, little walks and relaxed watching copious amounts of TV and films.

I really want to write more about everything but until I've collected all my thoughts together for a post I just wanted to share a couple of my favourite images with you so far. I can't wait to get the images back from the photographers and share them with everyone!

It's been a wonderful and magical week and I can't wait to share some more of it with you.
I'm planning on going over the little details and bits that made it ours, like the shoes I wore, the perfume I chose and all the little bits and pieces that bring the whole day together.

I'm really looking forward to getting back into blogging now I have lots more free time!
Speak to you all soon,

Sunday Sitdown #10

Sunday, 24 July 2016
It's Sunday and I'm awake writing this at 8am, damn the stupid hot weather but i've got so much to talk about that I just really wanted to get writing a post!

The first thing I want to talk about is my lovely friend Holly's baby shower, I can't believe how fast the last 8 months have flown by and I can't wait to meet the baby! The baby shower was absolutely wonderful, all of the food was incredible and beautiful, I mean just look at these biscuits and the cakes!! I know who I'll be getting to plan my baby shower when I eventually pop out some kids, hint hint Holly. It was just such a lovely afternoon playing games, chatting to people, eating some food and the weather was perfect for it too, I even got a little sun burnt, silly me!

Sweet Allure Sunday Sitdown #10 baby shower biscuits cakes party etsy store art prints flamingo cacti

Whilst I was at the baby shower Nick was off on his stag do in Leeds, which is a little surreal, I don't think it's quite sunk in yet that we're getting married despite talking about it so much, that it was very odd to think he was off on his stag do. I'm dreading what state he'll come back in this afternoon, I think we might be having an afternoon of laying on the sofa watching films and eating pizza so he can recover which is totally fine by me, sounds like the perfect Sunday afternoon chill.

Speaking of weddings, this month was also the month that I finally went out with my friend Gemma to buy my wedding dress materials and start putting the dress together. I am SO excited about this, I was really struggling to visualise what I wanted in my head and finally seeing the materials and the shape coming together makes me so excited, I can't wait to try it on and walk around all floaty! I'll be keeping you up to date on wedding things very soon so you won't have to wait long now I promise!

Then over on my blog I recently did a post about starting an art journal and the response I've had from this post has been overwhelming, thank you so much for all of the nice feedback! I've had so many people ask me to start making prints, so I think over the next couple of weeks I'll be putting together a selection to go up in an etsy store to share with you all and see how things go! I've just really enjoyed drawing and painting again so it's just so wonderful that everyone else likes my work too! Also let me know which one you prefer, the flamingo or the cacti in the comments!

I also had a meeting with all the other TheCityGirls ladies about the event we are planning for later in the year which was very exciting! I'm sure we'll have things to share with you all soon but the meeting went really well and I can't wait to have some things set in stone so we can share some sneak peaks! I think you are going to love it!

So as you can see the last couple of weeks have been quite busy, so much going on in real life and on the blog but it's all so exciting. I'm really excited about doing an etsy shop, it's a new challenge that I'm ready and raring to take on! I will let you all know when I open it!

Until then, I'm going to go scrape together some breakfast from whatever is hanging around in the fridge, make a cup of tea and watch some TV. I hope you enjoy your Sunday and see you on Tuesday!

I Finally Re-learnt To Drive*.

Saturday, 23 July 2016
Ever since I passed my test almost 10 years ago (sheesh!) I've always missed the freedom driving gave me, I absolutely loved learning to drive, I had such a fun instructor that I got on really well with (banter!) and all I could think about was the road trip adventures I'd go on once I passed.

sweet allure I Finally Re-learnt To Drive driving learning adventures car cars

It took me quite a few lessons before I was confident enough to go for my test, I think I was ready for a good 10 or so lessons before I decided to give the test a go but I was so nervous I decided to just carry on anyway. I feel like my test had everything a learner dreaded, I had an awful and hella steep reverse around a corner and I also had to do an emergency stop, which I always struggled with for some reason, but I passed with flying colours on my first time and I was excited about potential summer adventures.

But, inevitably real life got in the way, I was 17 and couldn't afford a car never mind the crazy high cost of insurance at that age and months turns into years and then I moved to London for university and you have to be crazy to want to drive there. Before I knew it I was 26 and hadn't driven a car for almost a decade. I felt like if I didn't start again soon I might never do it, so I decided last year to change this.

I've mentioned it a few times here on my blog but over the last few months I've been re-learning to drive which has been such a terrifying yet exciting experience. The first few times I went out with Nick (who was absolutely crapping his pants) for a few spins around the block to get me used to it again. I was designated driver over Christmas to take advantage of the almost car-less roads to get accustomed to the car and the roads in general which soon turned into the occasional commute to and from work.

It wasn't until a couple of months I took the ultimate leap and went out in the car by myself, for the first time ever, and drove myself to and from the train station so that I didn't have to get Nick up at 7am on a Saturday. It was absolutely terrifying and I think I  must have sweated buckets but getting there and back in one piece felt so incredible it was unreal, I text my dad straight away with excitement (yes I'm still that girl that texts her dad immediately after she does something cool) and I've been doing solo journeys here and there since.

I can't wait to be confident enough to tackle the motorway, which scares me but only because I've never done it before, so that I can go on more road trips, visit friends and go home to see my family more often. Driving gives me such freedom around when I can leave or arrive, I'm not restricted to the time tables of the trains or buses, public transport is one of the things I hate in life, I hate smelly rammed buses, am I the only one that gets 'the weirdo' always come and sit next to them? At least with driving the only weirdo I have to sit next to is Nick, hur hur!

I think the first trip I want to be brave enough to do is to vist Yorkshire Sculpture Park to see the KAWS exhibition, which I've been wanting to go to for aggeessss. It ends in December so I've got plenty of time to work up the courage, eek!

Are you learning to drive? Or just really enjoy road trips? Let me know in the comments!

Buying Our First Home: 1 Year On.

Saturday, 16 July 2016
When this post goes live it'll be 1 year since buying our own house which I have to say is a pretty crazy thought! Not only has the last year gone super quickly but it's starting to feel more like home.

sweet allure Buying Our First Home: 1 Year On homeware interiors lifestyle blog owners first time buyers

If you read my last post, 6 months on, you'll know that I was finding it hard to settle in and get that feeling of home. I feel like putting our own stamp on the place has really started to help with these feelings, we've pretty much made the living room exactly how we want it, it's just a matter of working round all the other rooms now and fixing them up.

I know this is a process that probably will never feel complete or fulfilled because I'll always be wanting to do things to the house like adding little touches here and there but after awhile it really has become the place that I can't wait to come back to after work and just relax.

It hasn't all been rainbows and butterflies though, for those first time buyers out there I'm sure this is a common issue but they're lots of things that have gone wrong along the way that we've had to fork out to fix. Not only did we have to buy a whole new set of kitchen appliances when we moved in, the boiler and the old dishwasher broke so we had to repair those. We're also having problems with our guttering at the minute that we're having fixed this weekend, the last thing we want is damp! And to be completely honest, there are still some things we haven't properly unpacked yet and we still have a spare room that you can barely get into because of all the stuff just dumped in there! I am getting to the stages where I'm wanting to sort through things now and really make the most out of our awesome house!

Although we are deep in the mist of paying for our wedding right now, one thing that does excite me about next year is having the funds to start doing the rest of the house up. The next room we really have to sort is the bedroom which is still quite literally a white shell, it has no personality stamp on it what so ever and I can't wait to buy a new bed, loads of fun bed sheets and cushions and really make it more homely. I also can't wait to have all of our wedding photos hanging around the house, that will for sure fill up all of the blank walls and shelves! I mean what else is a wedding for right?

I'm still so happy that we made the big leap from renting to buying our own home, it feels so much better knowing we are paying towards something we'll eventually own and not just wasting money on rent, especially when our mortgage is only £140 more than what our rent was anyway! I'm not about to preach and say this is something you should do because everyone is different but it felt like the right thing to do for us as a couple and we have absolutely no regrets.

It's also an amazing feeling knowing you can do what you want to the place without the restrictions of renting. We can hang what we like, paint what we like and no-one can say otherwise! It's a very liberating feeling after living in rented accommodation for almost 10 years!

Have you recently bought your first home? Or are you saving so you can one day do so? Let me know in the comments!

Life Lately: A Little Update.

Saturday, 9 July 2016
I'm not really sure where I'm going with this post but I've been feeling a little shitty about a few things recently and writing a post feels very therapeutic sometimes, so that's what i'm going to do.

Life Lately: A Little Update. chat chatty wedding catch up stress

I've felt really stressed out and 'on edge' recently, I've never been to the doctors or really thought I suffer with anxiety but recently I've been feeling really on edge, like I'm balancing on the edge of something that some days feels too much and other days I can just about cope with.

The main focus of my stress is money, I've spoken a little about our money situation in this post about living on a budget, we are getting married at the end of October this year and it's quite literally taking all of our money to pay for it. At least twice a week I go over everything for our budget and nothing ever changes, it's costing a fortune and sometimes I honestly believe we won't afford it. The stress of worrying over every single little thing that comes out of the bank and thinking about everything that could go wrong between now and October pretty much takes up all of my head space. We're both just exhausted from worrying, worrying about money, worrying about not being able to afford it and some of the time it takes over so much that we just think 'what are we doing?'.

This makes me sad, I can't wait to marry Nick, I really can't but sometimes the stress of everything just tops that excitement and fear and panic takes over instead. There have been times when we've honestly just thought about forgetting all about it and running off and getting married on our own but then the logic returns and we change our minds all over again, of course we want our parents and friends there.

I have to admit one of the things that are getting me through is Christmas, I love Christmas and the thought of us having money again and being able to buy each other presents and eat amazing food really helps me. We've even discussed finally getting a puppy! I know people reading this will be like 'surely getting married to the love of your life will make it all worth it?!' and yes, 100% of course it will be, but when all of your stress revolves around wedding thoughts, sometimes it's nice to have things to look forward to that aren't about the wedding.

Last month I had the contraceptive implant, I'm going to write a post about this at some point, but basically I was always forgetting to take my pill and I certainly don't want children any time soon. However I think it's also playing havoc with my hormones which certainly doesn't help when I'm trying not to lose my shit constantly. I've been having some serious back and chest acne appear out of no-where, which I think is stress related but this just adds to the worry of 'how will my wedding dress look' and 'will people notice' and bleerge.

I guess this post is basically just me telling myself that it's totally okay to be stressed out about everything to do with weddings. So many people think it's all fairy lights and cake and pretty dresses and you know what, it is, but it's also laced with panic and worries about self consciousness and ultimately what makes you, as a couple, happy. I have no doubt in my mind about marrying Nick, but being able to talk about all the things that terrify me helps.

I'm terrified of having our photograph taken all day, I'm terrified of all the attention being on us, as we are both very introverted people. I'm terrified about my make-up, my hair, my dress, what if on the day I feel like shit and will be captured in photographs this way forever more. I'm terrified of speaking my vows in front of people because I basically have word dyslexia and always mess up something. I know all of these fears are irrational and I'm sure on the day none of that stuff will matter but it's all there swimming around in my brain waiting to seep out when I'm feeling low.

But then on other days I push that all to the back of my mind and know that I'm excited, I'm excited about celebrating with all our friends and family and to drink and dance and have fun and those days are the days that I'm trying to cling onto at the minute. And that in 3 and a half months time it'll all be done and we'll be looking over the photos, laughing and smiling and reading cards of love and congratulations.

Well, that escalated quickly didn't it? ha! I guess I just needed to get some things off my chest. Hopefully I'm not the only one out there that feels this way sometimes and maybe now I've let it out, my mind can rest a little and relax.

I really hope that when it comes to my next wedding update post I have a few of these things sorted and not plaguing my mind.

Thanks for listening,

The Importance of Defining Your Own Terms of Success.

Tuesday, 5 July 2016
I've been listening to the Ladies who Lunch podcast a lot recently and one of the topics about jealousy and envy really stood out to me. One of the things Ingrid said was that everyone has their own definition of success so we shouldn't compare ourselves to other peoples versions of success.

This is such an important topic when it comes to life and relationships but today I want to talk about this in terms of blogging.

Entertainment of the Month June 2016

Thursday, 30 June 2016
This months entertainment I'm going to mix a little with some music and a couple of video games, but as always I have plenty of TV loves that I just can't wait to talk about, so lets get straight into it!

Sunday Sitdown #9

Sunday, 26 June 2016
I almost forgot to do a Sunday sit-down post this month because time truly has whizzed on by. I know I say this is every Sunday sit down post but the past month seems to have gone by really quickly even though I haven't seem to have done anything interesting, ha!

As always I'm going to talk about a few things that have been going on with my blog and in real life, so lets grab a cup of tea and have a catch up!

Wedding Update: 4 Months To Go!

Sunday, 12 June 2016
It's almost 4 months till the wedding and everything seems to be going really slowly and quite quickly at the same time.

If I'm honest it's still very much a 50/50 split on nerves and excitement, I think once I have things like my dress finished that'll take some nerves off, but I'm excited that everything is coming together!

Sweet allure wedding update 4 months to go

Whilst out in Cyprus we finally got my engagement ring re sized. Basically Nick and I got engaged out there last year and thought it would be sweet to buy our ring out there as a memento. We found the perfect heart shaped diamond ring but it was too big for my teeny tiny fingers and due to lack of time, we were assured that it wouldn't be a problem having it re sized back in the UK. We visited multiple places and everyone thought the resizing was too risky because of the 5-6 down sizes. So almost a year later we took it back to the same place in Cyprus and got it re sized down to fit perfectly. It definitely feels like a weight has lifted off my shoulder finally, it's scary not knowing if your engagement ring will actually fit on your wedding day! But now we can hunt for the perfect wedding ring to sit with it!

A few other things have been coming along nicely too, my bridesmaids and I decided on a dress that suited everyone and fits well! Which means the next stage is picking out some accessories to bring some glamour to each outfit! I think I'm going to let the ladies pick something to suit their own styles, so everyone doesn't look the same, I think having some personality showing is nicer than all looking the same.

I also went and got fitted for my wedding dress!! Which is very very exciting. I'm having my wedding dress made my amazing friend Gemma. I've known Gemma for many years and know how amazing her work is, so when I knew I didn't want to buy something off the rack she was the first person I thought of. I can't wait to see it start coming together when we go buy fabrics at the end of this month. It will happen quite quickly once the ball has started rolling and I'm so excited to try it on properly!

Sweet allure wedding update 4 months to go

Our invites are almost ready to send out. We've picked out which food we'd like for the buffet and I got my flower banquets one Saturday very expectantly when I came across some amazing fake flowers in a shop, I picked them up immediately because they were such a bargain. I also have my make up trial this month so I'm looking forward to that, I think I'm going to go for something quite natural and feminine.

Next on the list of things to do;

Book a hair trial
Finalise music for ceremony and reception
Decide on my own accessories, shoes, jewellery, belt
Book the hotel for wedding night
Decide on where to go for our mini moon break

Although I'm sure there are lots of little things to do, the main thing for us at the minute is keeping on top of finances so we can pay for things when the time comes! It's a little stressful worrying about every little purchase but it'll all be worth it in the end!

I can't believe that the next update will be probably around the 3 months to go mark! It will come around so quickly! If you want to see the story from the beginning you can read my 6 months to go update or The Venues or The Beginnings to get a much better understanding!

As always I'd love to hear from you in the comments! If you think i've missed out something glaringly obvious or you want to join in the fun wedding chats then please leave me a comment!

Relaxing Coffee Lunch at Steam Yard.

Thursday, 26 May 2016
I've been lusting over the doughnuts at Steam Yard in Sheffield for approximately for-ev-er and when Ocean Loans got in contact with me to work on a relaxing post, I knew immediately where I wanted to go.

I love exploring new places and I couldn't think of a better thing to do than sit chatting with Nick over some amazing food and drinks, so we took a stroll up to Steam Yard one lunch time to just chill out in what is pretty much my new favourite place.

I find it quite easy to slip into the same old routine and the daily grind of going to work, coming home, cooking some food and before you know it, it's time to go to bed and repeat the entire process. I find little adventures out like this really bring you back into balance and re-connects you with the people around you. Nick and I quite literally spend 24/7 with each other because we work together, so it can be quite easy to forget to take some time out as a couple to do something different.

What better way to do that than over some food and drink, right? Like i'd mentioned earlier, I was drawn to this place by the amazing selection of doughnuts, including a range of  'fro-nuts' which have frozen ice-cream in the middle (totally coming back for one of these over the summer). But on this occasion I decided to go for the glorious 'S'mores Doughnut' which consisted of marshmallows, peanut butter and Nutella all toasted slightly so they melted together. I have to say this was pretty good but I couldn't finish the entire thing, it's basically an oozey mountain of sugary goodness.

Nick opted for a 3 cheese toasted sandwich because I'm the sweet toothed one out of the two of us and we decided to share a hot chocolate, which looked as beautiful as you would expect from a coffee place now days.

I have to give a shout out to the interior of this place too, it's very cool. Lots of wood, decals on the walls and I loved pretty much everything about the interiors, I could imagine being one of those people that bring a laptop to write things in here and look ridiculously pretentious with peanut butter smeared all over my face.

I can't wait to go back again over the summer and relax on one of the benches in the courtyard with a cup of coffee and a fronut!

How do you like to relax in your spare time?

My Current Top 5 Favourite Podcasts.

Tuesday, 24 May 2016
Up until about 6 months ago I only had a couple of Podcasts in my subscription list however recently my list has grown so much I struggle to listen to them all! Listening to something whilst working really helps me concentrate and zone out background noise and of course it also helps that they are funny and entertaining!

As I found these podcasts from various different places, I thought I'd bring them together in one post so I can tell you all about my current top 5 favourite podcasts.

Sweet Allure: My Current Top 5 Favourite Podcasts

01 My Dad Wrote A Porno.
I know this is an old one but I've only recently discovered it. This one is pretty self explanatory, someones dad wrote an erotic novel and he reads it out loud with his friends, much to his awkward amusement. This is really easy to listen to and probably shouldn't be listened to at work but it's been keeping me giggling to myself for hours.

02 A Cast of Kings - A Game of Thrones Podcast.
One of my favourite things in life is Game of Thrones and if watching it and chatting about it with anyone that will listen isn't enough, I like to listen to other people talking theories about it too. What's great about this, is that one of the hosts has read the books and one has only seen the TV show, so you get two different views points but without any spoilers. Listening to this on a Tuesday morning is almost as exciting as watching the show on Monday evenings.

03 Jules and Sarah The Podcast.
If you are looking for a pick me up kind of podcast this is perfect for you. Jules and Sarah are both northerners that now live in London but still love everything from up north. This has had me laughing out loud at my desk on multiple occasions and never fails to put a smile on my face. I even get a cheeky shout out at one point that quite literally made my month.

04 The Odd Pear.
When Jemma from Dorkface blog told everyone that she and her boyfriend Gary were starting a podcast I was so excited, I love supporting my fellow blogging ladies and I have to say I actually love this podcast. Each week they pick a topic to talk about and I've loved every single topic so far, from Harry Potter, 90's TV to chatting about serial killers, what's not to love?!

05 Guys We F****d.
This is certainly not safe for work but the pure honesty of this podcast is what I love. Two female comedians talk openly about the men they have slept with and get them on to discuss the encounters. If sex positivity is something you are cool with then this is something fun and interesting to listen to, it's mostly learning about people's lives with a dash of boning, standard.

As I listen to so many podcast I'm thinking about doing another list of podcasts I listen to that inspire and help me with my writing/blogging. There are some really great ones that really leave me feeling inspired and wanting to take on the world so keep your eyes peeled for that post very soon.

I hope you've heard of a couple of  new podcasts from this list and want to check them out, let me know if you listen or enjoy them. Or if you have any new recommendations please please please let me know in the comments because I'm open to a wide variety of topics and would love to add some new ones to my ever growing list!

Blog life.

After listening to a few blogging themed podcasts I've found recently, I've been really inspired and enthusiastic about writing. I've been jotting down all sorts of topics I want to cover here, most of which are very real and down to earth because I feel like I want to spend more time connecting with my viewers and tackling issues I'm passionate about in life. I really enjoy reading posts about real life issues and connecting a little more with another person and if I can do that for someone else, I'd be extremely happy and proud of my blog.

Another exciting front on the blog is that I've joined The City Girls team. The City Girls is run by my friend Holly over on Tea&Blush and she kindly asked me, Aimee and Becki to join the team to bring the events back to life later this year. We're all so very excited to join the team and get cogs turning behind the scenes, so please hang tight for some exciting things later in the year !

Personal life.

At the start of this month I took some big steps with my driving and finally went out on my own without anyone else in the car for the first time ever. I've been slowly getting back into driving and building up my confidence since Christmas and being able to finally go out of my own has felt really really great. The last thing I need to tackle is learning to drive on the motorway then I'll be free as a bird to tackle the roads of the world.

We also both enjoyed 10 days on holiday with Nicks family in Cyprus. This was a much needed holiday and the fact it was with family made it super relaxed with no pressure to go out every night, this meant I spent a lot of time chilling with Nick by the pool, reading books and spending some much needed time away from social media. I wrote two photo diary type posts about Cyprus which you can find Part 1 and Part 2 here. It really makes me want to travel more and explore the world, which I do plan on doing after we've got the big holiday of next year over, our honeymoon!

Then finally, we have more progress on the wedding front in May, which is always very exciting, but I'll be writing a post about that very soon. So keep your eyes peeled for that! I can't quite believe it's only 5 months away now, it seems to be equally flying by and dragging!

I'm off to drink lots of fruit tea in front of the telly and spend the day relaxing, ahhh sundays.

When My Period Gots Me Feeling Low.

Sweet Allure When My Period Got Me Feeling Low.

Today I am in the undeniable grip of my period.

My Cyprus Photo Diary Part 2.

Thursday, 19 May 2016
As some of you already know from reading Part 1, I recently got back from 10 days in Cyprus visiting family. We had some relaxing days and some adventure days and this set of photos are from the second half of the holiday.

They start with photographs from the long drive up to the top of the Trodos Mountains, with a pit stop at a monastery. There is a couple of images from the very top of Mt Olympus, which you can see all the way into Turkey! On the drive back down the other side of the mountain we stopped off in a beautiful little village and ate at a lovely restaurant. Then towards the end we rented a boat and went out into bays, the water was the most beautiful shade of blue I've ever seen! On the second to last day we went walking in a gorge, which was so much cooler than we expected and had a couple of drinks in a sweet little restaurant on the edge, I loved the canopy growing over the top, such a cute garden feel. Then the last one is of Nick messing around on a little pier, I thought it was a cute little shot to throw in at the end.
