I've always been one for displaying my Polaroids on the wall, it's a passion of mine and well, lets face it, they look kinda cool. But this time I didn't want to just stick them to the wall like I had done previously and putting them in a simple frame wasn't 'interesting' enough for my liking.
I'd bought some washy tape years ago to tape around the edges of my polaroids to make the white borders a little more interesting but like most things, I never got around to actually doing it.
I'd bought some washy tape years ago to tape around the edges of my polaroids to make the white borders a little more interesting but like most things, I never got around to actually doing it.
When I finally got around to buying some frames and figuring out a way to display the polaroids in the frames, I realised they look a little bland, they needed a little something to help make them interesting. When digging around my cupboard I came across the old washy tape I had bought and came up with a really fun idea.
I decided to take the tape and use it to completely cover the background piece of paper you get in the frame and then stick the polaroids on top. I tried it with the first one and thought it looked great and continued to do all 5 of the frames I'd bought, much to the disappointment of my back, that was killing by this point.
It's super simple, all you need to do is buy a frame, (most come with a piece of paper inside telling you what size it is) buy some washy tape of your choice and cover the piece of paper with the tape. Making sure you are careful to line each row up so it's as seamless as possible then stick your photos on top. Simple as that really!
I wanted to share this on my blog because I thought it was a fun and simple DIY job to make photo frames more interesting or for those that take polaroids but didn't know a great way to display them. It could probably work for normal printed photos too, but just make sure you buy a bigger frame so that the washy tape sticks out of the sides to brighten things up.
There are loads of washy tapes you can buy in bright and fun colours, I'm thinking about picking up some coloured ones for my next set to it contrasts with the black and white ones featured in this post.

Woah! It's such a fun idea. Photos in the frame look pretty chic with the washi tape behind them.
